It is an inorganic compound of formula Ca (ClO) 2, concentrated to 70%. It is a salt marketed as granules or tablets. It decomposes easily in water releasing oxygen and chlorine. It is widely used in water treatment for its high efficacy against bacteria, algae, mold, fungi and microorganisms dangerous to health. In the banana activity it is mainly used to disinfect the waters of the selection piles of the packing plant.
